Musical traditions are woven together through the music of Brooklyn-born and Denver, Colorado-based folk songstress Carla Sciaky (pronounced: See-AH-kee). With her pure, soprano, vocals accompanied on a wide variety of instruments, Sciaky combines soft-spoken sensitivity with a unique gift at romantic balladry.
Sciaky inherited her love of music from her mother, a piano playing nursery school teacher and camp counselor. Singing and dancing by the age of two, Sciaky was fascinated by her mother's playing. Although she began classical studies in the keyboard, Sciaky's musical direction was altered when she learned to play guitar, at the age of fourteen, while spending the summer in Oaxaca, Mexico with her grandmother and fifteen American teenaged girls.
